2. Change the story settings
Once you have a private profile, you will need to change the Story’s privacy settings and manually hide them from all of your followers. You can keep it visible to some close friends. Here is how to Hide stories. Step 1: Go to Instagram settings and tap on Story Controls.

Note: Don’t delete the story just yet. Stories are required to stay live for twenty-four hours to appear in Highlights. If you delete them before the time period, they will also be removed from Highlights.
5. Make everyone visible
Make everyone visible when the story is automatically brought to the archives after twenty-four hours. You have to go to Instagram Settings> Story Control> Hide Story From. Turn off Everyone. This way you can add stories to highlights without anyone seeing them. As mentioned earlier, the time period for this trick is twenty four hours.

Step 1: Go to your Instagram profile screen. Step 2: Hold the marker whose cover photo you want to change. From the pop-up and select Edit marker.
Step 3: From the Edit screen, tap the Edit Cover option.
Step 4: To use an existing marker as a cover photo, navigate to that image or video. However, if you want to upload from the gallery, tap the little gallery icon to the left of the image thumbnails.
Step 5: Select your image and click Next. Adjust the image to fit the circle. Then press Done. Step 6: You will be taken to the editing screen. Press the Done option.

With Canva you can create cool covers for your highlights. It is a graphic design tool (website and app) used to create creative images. Step 1: Register on the Canva site or use mobiles apps. Log in if you already have a Canva account. Step 2: Once logged in, scroll down on it home screen and tap an image under Logo section.
Step 3: Hold the elements you want to change. You can delete all existing elements and add new ones.
Step 4: When done, save them to your device. Then use the steps in the previous section to add custom covers.
