It also has some state-of-the-art swagger: beautifully implemented state-of-the-art haptics and adaptive trigger resistance create opportunities for more immersive experiences via haptic feedback. Both a careful evolution and a big, innovative leap, DualSense sets a strong new standard for console controllers. The overall shape might look very similar to the DualShock 4, but the DualSense makes some incredibly bold changes to the formula, big and small. It is well made, there are many features, and can connect to PCs, Macs, Android devices and even Nintendo Switch. However, its slightly larger sibling, the SN30 Pro, simply feels much more comfortable, thanks to a less cramped and more natural control layout. The N30 Pro 2 has a flat, compact design that looks like a cross between rectangular NES controllers and dog bone-shaped SNES controllers. At 2.4 by 5 by 0.5 inches (HWD), it’s a little thinner and much thinner than the nearly one-inch-thick SN30 Pro, which more directly emulates the SNES gamepad. While the N30 Pro 2 doesn’t directly mimic a specific retro controller, a variety of classic liveries evoke different Nintendo gamepads, such as the NES-inspired black, gray and red N Edition; the gray 6 Edition inspired by the SNES and Super Famicom, and the purple and yellow C Edition inspired by the GameCube. The M30 resembles the classic Genesis 6-button controller, albeit with less sharp handles. Both the D-pad and the buttons sit in circular recesses on the controller where your fingers rest comfortably. Aside from a small branding line on the controller, I love its understated aesthetic. It doesn’t look as much of a goofy relic as, say, an N64 controller – mainly because it’s sleek and black, but also because it’s more misshapen, more pebble-like than most controllers.
