Both Stealth 600 headsets are physically identical and available in black or white for the Xbox One or PlayStation 4. Both are lightweight headsets made of matte plastic with a foldable hard plastic microphone on the left earcup. The same earcup houses all of the headset’s controls and ports, including a USB-C port for charging, power and audio mode buttons, and microphone control and volume controls. The Xbox One version has an additional pairing button next to the USB-C port, showing that the two models function slightly differently. The ear cups feature fabric-covered foam pads that don’t feel nearly as soft as the memory foam padding we’ve seen on most other headsets, like the Razer Nari Essential. Along with the leatherette-wrapped padding under the headband, the headset feels a bit stiff around the ears. However, it is very lightweight, and the breathable ear cushions should make for fairly comfortable gaming sessions. The microphone works well enough for voice chat, but it’s not particularly clean or clear for recording or streaming. The microphone is built on a stiff arm with limited movement, so you have few options for positioning it properly in relation to your mouth. The Stealth 600 offers clear, balanced music playback, but with relatively weak bass. The headset has four built-in audio modes, including bass boost, but we found the best overall sound balance in Standard mode. The headset handled our bass test track, “Silent Shout” by The Knife, at maximum volume without a hint of distortion, but it didn’t come close to head-shaking. The Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 is a very solid wireless headset with strong audio performance, marred only by a somewhat disappointing microphone. PC gamers have plenty of other compelling options, however, with the Razer Nari Essential standing out with superior sound and a far better microphone for the same price. Since both the PS4 and Xbox One support wired headsets through their controller ports, you can also save some money with the Astro Gaming A10 or Razer Blackshark V2 X, provided you don’t mind working with a cable. However, for a simple, straightforward wireless gaming experience on your PS4 or Xbox One, the Stealth 600 is a great choice.
