With its sweeping thumb grip, angular front design, and sloping surface, the Razer Basilisk X Hyperspeed is modelled after the original Basilisk. It does, however, make some changes. For one thing, it’s less complicated and has a more basic grip design. Two thumb buttons are located on the left side. There are no special adjustments for the notched scroll wheel. There is no RGB support, and the DPI switch only has one light. It also makes use of Razer’s own mechanical switches, which have a lifespan of 50 million clicks. The thumb buttons are nice and clicky, with a consistent feel and no mushiness. This new design appears to be inspired by the Logitech G502 Hero, with glossy stripes cutting across the mouse’s otherwise matte black plastic. The mouse measures 130mm x 60mm x 42mm and weighs 83g without its AA battery, but the battery easily increases that to slightly more than 100g. The palm rest detaches to reveal a cavity that houses the battery and a small USB dongle. It’s just a shame Razer didn’t include any custom weights, as there’s plenty of room. However, Razer Synapse allows you to customise the DPI settings and buttons. However, given the limited number of buttons, we found it easiest to simply leave the bindings alone. Underneath is the Razer 5G Advanced optical sensor, which has a resolution of up to 16,000 DPI and can track at speeds of up to 450 IPS and accelerations of up to 40G. That is when we will discuss the Razer Basilisk X Hyperspeed’s performance. Simply put, it’s fantastic. The Razer Basilisk X Hyperspeed provides the high-end tracking performance you’d expect from a high-end gaming mouse, with capabilities that can keep up with elite gamers’ twitch reflexes. The battery hasn’t been an issue during all of this gameplay. The Razer Basilisk X Hyperspeed can run for up to 285 hours using the HyperSpeed Wireless connection and 450 hours using Bluetooth (LE) on a single AA battery, according to Razer. We haven’t been playing for that long, and the battery has only been depleted by a few percentage points.
