It has over 100 sports modes – from running and hiking to snowboarding, climbing and cross-country skiing – and can automatically detect most of them. It has GPS and can record your running route (although it won’t help you navigate). It’s also waterproof to a depth of 100 meters. Battery life can be up to 18 days, despite the bright, colorful 1.3-inch AMOLED display. You get a lot of features for your money with the T-Rex Pro, but a “wow factor” is not one of them. The T-Rex Pro looks almost exactly like the original Amazfit T-Rex. This new version also has four screws in the bezel for a practical, industrial and slightly plasticky look. There are also four metal buttons on the edge of the case that are large enough to easily press while running or wearing gloves. Too light to be accurate, so accidental pressing is inevitable. With a radius of 47.7mm and a thickness of 13.5mm, the T-Rex Pro is a chunky polycarbonate product that has a relatively masculine look, but never feels heavy when worn thanks to its light 59.4g. According to Zepp, the T-Rex Pro is shock resistant, withstands -40°C to 70°C, resists salt spray, and meets MIL-STD-810G standards. By far the most important feature, however, is that it is waterproof to depths of up to 100 meters. That’s double what the original version could do. The T-Rex Pro has a 1.3-inch AMOLED touchscreen display with a resolution of 360 x 360 pixels (just like its predecessor). It is easily visible even in bright sunlight, but only if you set it to the highest brightness level. This naturally affects the battery life, which Zepp specifies at 18 days. In practice, the 390 mAh battery lasts for about a week, which is still impressive. The package includes a 22 mm wide wristband made of silicone rubber, which is comfortable and stays in place while running. The only other accessory in the box is a proprietary charger that attaches magnetically to the back of the case. That’s also where you’ll find the flashing LEDs of Zepp’s new-for-2021 Bio-Tracking 2 PPG optical sensor, which measures heart rate and oxygen saturation (SpO2). Also inside are an accelerometer, gyroscope, altimeter, geomagnetic sensor and ambient light sensor.
