You can also swim and bike with the Garmin Forerunner 735XT, and like running, there are plenty of metrics to track. When it comes to swimming we have found it to be an excellent choice for the drill based swimmer. Not only does it have a dedicated exercise mode, but you can set breaks and have them show up later in the app – in short, it’s great for tracking the details of your swim. In short, the battery life of the Garmin Forerunner 735XT is just great. Even when connected to a smartphone, the battery life lasts incredibly well – the thing could easily run an ultramarathon. The Garmin Forerunner 735XT’s interface is pretty easy to use once you get the hang of it – and find the myriad of secret functions that are activated by holding down different buttons at different times. It’s easy to manipulate the pace, which is a dream thing – we could change our virtual pacer mid-race, and it only took a few seconds. It’s also great how the notifications appear on this watch – when you’re connected to your phone you get just the right amount of preview to see if you need to look at that text or WhatsApp message or if it is worth taking the call.
