The Life Dot 2 earbuds are extremely light, with a glossy black plastic build and rubber ear tips and ear fins, dubbed AirWings, to help the earbuds sit securely in the ear, especially during exercise and sports. I’m not a big fan of black glossy plastic, especially on earbuds, because it can get slippery and show scratches after a while. This isn’t a huge issue with these earbuds because the AirWings cover up a lot of it, but it’s something to keep in mind. The earbuds have physical button controls on each earbud; this button has a matte finish that distinguishes it from the rest of the earbuds due to its different texture and feel. Furthermore, just below the multi-function button is an LED indicator that displays the status of the earbuds, including charging and Bluetooth connection status. The microphones are beneath the LED. The underside of the earbuds is straightforward and ergonomically designed to fit snugly into the ear. The charging pins and magnets that secure the earbuds into the charging case are also located on the underside. The Life Dot 2 is powered by 8mm dynamic drivers, which produce a sound with clear treble and deep bass. The earbuds have a warmer and more bass-focused sound profile, but this does not interfere with the clarity of the highs and treble – everything sounds fairly well balanced. For the price, these earbuds sound fantastic for listening to a variety of music genres. Overall, vocals sounded clear and well balanced, though depending on the production of a track, they can sometimes be overtaken by bass synthesisers and drum kicks due to the emphasis on the low end. The Life Dot 2 earbuds aren’t packed with features, but they do include a couple of useful ones to ensure a good listening experience. The earbuds have Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity and an IPX5 water resistance rating, making them ideal for use during exercise because they can withstand sweating. The earbuds also have one-step pairing and can be swapped in and out of the case without losing their connection. If you only use one of the earbuds, the device will automatically switch to mono mode. Unfortunately, the Life Dot 2 does not connect to Soundcore’s mobile app, so elements like the EQ and multi-function button configuration cannot be changed. I’m not sure why this is the case, as these would be fantastic additions.
