The new SteelSeries Arctis 7+ Wireless looks a lot like the old SteelSeries Arctis 7, which makes sense, given that the entire Arctis line didn’t really change its look. However, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. A lot of the headset’s most defining physical characteristics are directly related to wearing comfort. Like the Arctis 9 Wireless, Arctis Pro, and many others, the SteelSeries Arctis 7+ Wireless has a suspension frame with an elastic ski goggle-style band; it has an easy-to-adjust Velcro patch, and it’s really comfortable. The headphones feature the same airweave fabric ear pads as almost all Arctis headphones to date, and they’re still soft, breathable, and very flexible. However, it still doesn’t do much for insulation. The headset has a fairly standard array of on-ear controls. The volume dial and mic mute button are on the back of the left earpiece, alongside a USB-C charging port, a 3.5mm jack and a proprietary plug port. On the right earpiece, there’s a dial to control game and chat mixing, as well as the power button. SteelSeries GG is the new one-stop shop for your SteelSeries software needs. While SteelSeries Engine was a standalone service, it’s now part of GG, and continues to work as simply as usual: there are options for headset equalization, power saving, mic volume, and more, all on one page. However, with the release of the SteelSeries Arctis 7+ Wireless, SteelSeries decided to release a replacement for Engine called Sonar. The SteelSeries Arctis 7+ Wireless is ideal for gaming. It’s very comfortable, which means that extended gaming sessions are easy to manage. The headset’s impressive battery life means you’ll be able to play for a long time before needing to recharge. The headset does a great job of meeting the audio needs of a game like Valorant on PC, and the spatial sound of SteelSeries Sonar makes footsteps easier to place. Valorant’s EQ profile available in Sonar is also very useful, as it removes virtually all bass from the headset’s audio output, making it possible to hear different situational sounds a bit better.
