If you’re like most iPhone users, you’re probably turning to Messaging as a way to stay in touch with the important people in your life. The iOS 14 update has added a big improvement to News that makes it much easier to keep your most important conversations on top of the app. Now you can pin conversations so they’re always waiting for you when you start messages. Not only does pinning a conversation to messages keep it above all other text messages, but Apple has also added some visual cues to let you know which pinned messages are active. If there is a recent reply, a ringback, or someone typing a message, this activity will be animated over the pinned conversation. you can fix up up to nine conversations at the top of the Messaging app – both individual chats and group messages. These pinned chats are synced across all your Apple devices through the Messaging app on iOS, iPadOS, and macOS.

Note that a conversation you pin at the top of the screen will no longer appear in the message list at the bottom. If a contact does not have an iMessage profile picture, their circle of contacts will appear as the first letter of their name on a gray background. When you receive a message in an individual conversation thread, the input ellipse (three dots) appears above the contact circle and a preview of the subsequent message is displayed in the form of a chat balloon.
How to Release conversations in messages
To clear a conversation at the top of your message list, just press and hold the large contact icon and tap Clear [Name] in the pop-up menu. Alternatively, tap the Edit option in the upper left corner of the screen, then tap the minus gray icon for the conversation you want to resolve.
