Next Share Android’s response to Apple’s AirDrop sharing feature, has been released to Windows users via Google Chrome now. It allows users to wirelessly and instantly share files between compatible devices. Last month, the Near Share feature was introduced in the Google Play Services public beta program. Chromebook users soon had access to the feature also, as it would be being released on Chrome OS. Now it looks like Windows users can use Perto Share in the Chrome Dev or Canary channels, the Share feature can be activated by following a few simple steps. Both devices must first be unlocked and placed next to each other with Bluetooth enabled. However, there are some requirements that you must meet in order for the feature to function as intended. First, you need a Windows PC with Bluetooth support and a compatible smartphone or Chromebook. Second, both devices must be unlocked and close to each other with Bluetooth enabled. Lastly, if you are using a Chromebook to test the feature, the Chromebook should have sharing nearby. feature enabled in Quick Settings. Even though I have a PC that supports Bluetooth, I couldn’t see the feature in action as I don’t have access to a compatible smartphone or Chromebook.
