Ubisoft’s guitar subscription service has been delayed because the developer revisits the core features. Rocksmith +, the next evolution of Ubisoft’s gamified music lessons series, has been pushed back to 2022 as Ubisoft San Francisco uses feedback from this summer’s beta to tighten up multiple cores features. Unveiled earlier this year, Rocksmith+ planned to offer their entire music library to subscribers, rather than fiddling with DLC packages, and hoped to make playback a little easier by letting you strum your guitar on a phone microphone instead of worrying about proprietary adapters. As someone who learned to play the guitar from a guy next to the train station, it sounds really cool! But in a rather long blog post, lead producer Arthur von Nagel explained that despite plans to launch this summer, feedback from a recent closed beta convinced the developer to wait for the full release. “Originally, we intended to release “summer 2021” on the PC,” wrote von Nagel. “We didn’t set a hard date because we wanted the flexibility to react to feedback and adjust release schedules to match. We’ve mapped out the work we’d like to prioritize based on your feedback and decided to postpone the Rocksmith+ release until 2022.” Von Nagel lists some areas where the game was found to be deficient and what the team is doing to bring them about up scratch. The beta music library of about 500 songs is being expanded up for “thousands and thousands of songs”, more support is being given to alternate audio input configurations, and improvements are planned to the game’s progression metrics and UI to make finding and learning songs a little easier. You’ll have to wait a little longer before serenading your friends with Wonderwall covers at house parties, then. When it launches, Rocksmith+ will be available for a monthly subscription of $14.99 (with discounts for 3 and 12 month plans).
