Then tap the three dots icon on Android phones and the gear icon on the iPhone.

Follow the steps to hide your story: Step 1: On Instagram home tap the Your Story icon at the top. Then tap the settings icon on the next screen.
Step 2: Add people you want to hide your story from under the Hide story from option. Once you do that, everyone except the people added here will be able to see your story.
Unfollow and delete
In addition to these methods, you can use Do Not Track to restrict profiles. When you unfollow a person, their posts will not appear in your feed. If it’s a public profile, you can view the posts by going to their profile, but if it’s a private profile you won’t be able to see the posts even if you visit their profile. It’s basically an advanced form of muting where the other person can easily detect if you haven’t followed them anymore. When you unfollow someone, they can still message, like, and comment on your posts. To unfollow someone, go to their profile page and tap the Unfollow icon.
Furthermore, you can use the Delete option to manually delete a follower. Suppose you switched to a private profile and now you only want a few known followers. You used to have to block people from removing them from their followers, but now you can easily do this manually. Once you delete them, they will have to follow you again to view your messages in case of private profiles. To remove a follower, open your profile screen and tap Followers. Then find the follower you want to remove and tap the three-dot menu next to its name.
You will get a pop-up. Tap Delete. This will remove them from your followers without notifying them.
