Rare Apple product collector and Twitter user “TheBlueMister” first shared a photo of an unreleased accessory earlier this month. It looks like he got his hands on one and is sharing that photo online. TheBlueMister set out to take the accessory apart and make it work again, and he shares part of the process on Twitter. When you plug it into your Mac, you’ll find that the unannounced accessory is called the “Apple Magic Charger.” The accessory features a rubberized white “MagSafe” charger on a rounded square of anodized aluminum that slides into a vertical position. It appears to have a space gray finish, includes a white rubberized base for securing to surfaces, and a built-in braided USB-C charging cable. It also looks similar to the iPhone’s Lightning Dock. A Twitter user known as “DuanRui” shared more unreleased images of his Apple Magic Charger today. The accessory’s design is similar to the “MagSafe” Duo’s flip-up Apple Watch charger and the now-discontinued Apple Watch magnetic charging dock. See official Apple accessories. The design of the “iPhone” seems a bit restrictive as it cannot be slid onto the charger in portrait mode. This is only useful when viewing content in landscape mode. Of course, the “MagSafe” pack can charge an “iPhone” or AirPods with a “MagSafe” charging case. Early versions of the Apple Magic Charger’s design could only hold the “iPhone” in an upright horizontal position. These restrictions seem to be one of the main reasons Apple canceled the product.
